Description and Context

Seated in this 1964 photograph from left to right are Dr. Charles Johnson (medicine), Dr. Charles L. Curry (medicine), Dr. Clinton Battle (surgery), and Dr. Luther White Jr (surgery). Dr. Curry was the first resident admitted into the Lincoln Hospital-Duke Hospital internal medicine residency program in 1963. Dr. Charles Curry entered the program in 1964. Both Drs. Curry and Johnson completed their medical school education at Howard University and an internship in Washington, DC, before joining the program at Lincoln Hospital as residents, or second-year trainees.
