Description and Context

The Lincoln Hospital School of Nursing had a choir comprised mostly of students and a few graduate nurses and hospital staff. They practiced weekly and performed at events at Lincoln Hospital and throughout the community. One of the first steps toward racial integration between Watts Hospital, Duke Hospital, and Lincoln Hospital came from these vocal musicians when they performed as one choir for the Christmas season in 1958 and again in 1967.
